Kevin's professional journey is a testament to dedication, innovation, and service across military, technological, and community domains. During his 22-year military career, he first served as a Structural Aircraft Mechanic. As a Marine, he advanced to become a Cyber Network Systems Chief, and later made history as the first Black Cyber Warfare Engineer in the US Navy. Kevin holds certifications in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Stanford University and Design Thinking from IDEO, and is recognized as a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) VMS entrepreneur. While pursuing his B.S. in Computer Engineering, his SDSU Mechatronics team became the first from San Diego to win the international Robosub competition, defeating thirty-six global competitors. Their achievement was celebrated at City Hall by the Mayor of San Diego and the Office of Naval Research (ONR) Commander, and even earned commendation from President Barack Obama. Kevin has served as the Secretary of the Navy Tours with Industry (SNTWI) research fellow at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. During this fellowship, he engaged with research, development, and executive teams at leading tech companies including SpaceX, Amazon, Morgan Stanley, and Apple, providing strategic insights to the Department of the Navy on technology adoption and innovation. Kevin has led and volunteered with over two dozen STEM-based and charitable organizations supporting K-12, veteran, senior, and underserved communities. Notable contributions include: Serving as a benefactor for the Marines' Memorial Foundation; acting as a judge and announcer for the MIT Beaver Works CRE[AT]E Challenge, an international competition where high school engineers design and iterate on Assistive Technology (AT) solutions for community members coping with disabilities; developing curriculum and lecturing for the MIT Beaver Works: Serious Games and Artificial Intelligence course; mentoring the Trinity middle school Computer Club; organizing a Tech Helpdesk for the Cambridge Senior Center; and mentoring with the National Security Innovation Network (NSIN). Kevin continues to embody a life of service, bridging technological innovation with community.
